Well since I've decided to embark on this creative journey, I might as well give the readers a bit of insight into the type of person I am.
I was an athlete back in high school, with multiple school records in swimming and played for the varsity basketball team. However, I was an injury magnet so I could often be found on the bench during a basketball game with a cast around my write or ice around my ankles. In middle school, I also played football (or soccer) and badminton but eventually gave up on them as I realized they just weren't for me.
And with me playing being intertwined within the sports community, very few people know about my other side. I love tech and retro games. I obsess over the history of games, from the generation when Atari ruled the market, to when Nintendo released their Gameboy which revolutionized the world of portable gaming, to the BOOM of DOOM that led to the expression "can it run DOOM?", to the release of the Playstation 1 which would eventually lead to the console wars between Sony's Playstation, Nintendo, and Microsoft's XBOX. I dabbled in a bit of the headphone market as well when I was trying to find the perfect workout earbud or when I had to decide between Apple's AirPods Max or Sony's WH-1000XM5s, which led to a deep dive into the specifications (eg. IPX ratings, sound quality, battery life, recharge time, durability, in-app services, equalizers, etc.).
My favourite game franchises are DOOM (any of them honestly) and Resident Evil (especially RE4). Oh boy, I could play all day long. I recently got into Tekken for a period of time as well as Shin Megami Tensei, but it's been a while since I touched them. I also started learning how to play the Yu-Gi-Oh! card game, which initially overwhelmed me with all the rules and concepts but I eventually got a hang of it.
I love horror, my favourite genre being slasher films like Halloween (1978) and Scream (1996). I listen to horror stories frequently, sometimes to relax (yeah I know... strange). I hate to be that guy, but I am "that guy" who laughs at horror movies while all my friends hide behind their blankets or their hands. The Halloween soundtrack is my favourite, something about the eerie but exciting theme song just creates such a perfect tone for the movie. I also heard Kobe Bryant listens to it before his games to bring out his inner killer.
Those were a few things not many know about me. Now you have a better idea of the type of person I am, not like it really matters anyway as I am just one in 8 billion. But at least it was fun to type out my interests and reflect on them, and that's what really matters to me.
